Dec. 31. / The Daily Express publishes a message smuggled from a prison near Madrid, from Senor Zarcora, leader of the Republicans, detailing the elaborate preparations made before the rovolt to establish a Republic. Senor Zamora himself would have been the first President. Ho says ho was forced to adopt revolutionary methods, because the Monarchy showed itself directly culpable. Shameful oppressions were imposed by tho dictatorship, under which the King sheltered, opposing a real constitution. The monarch deserved to fall ond would fall. Senor Zamora affirms that the plot failed iiecauso the enthusiasts at Jaca took action precipitately, three days before the call. A message from Madrid says the Liberal Leader, Senor Romanones, in an interview with King Alfonso advised His Majesty to constitute a national coalition Government and to take over control until passions Subside. Tho Prime Minister, General Bercnguer, in'an interview with the press reiterated liis intention of holding an election in March. Senor Romanones has replied, advising Ihe Liberals to ignore General Eerenguer, as being quits unsuited for the preparation of a general election.
