WAR BRIDES.

Sir, —One has every sympathy with tha English war brides of New Zealand soldiers who have found it impossible to return to England for & trip, but perhaps those who feel disappointed should be reminded that not one pioneer immigrant in 1000 ever had the chance of seeing the Homeland again. Whatever their hopes when they left it was a case of "good-bye for ever," and their struggle to live was much more stem than that of thi3 generation. But they made a country and founded a nation. The war brides are helping to carry on their work, with less cause for loneliness and less hardship. The idea that some means might be found for sending them Home for a trip is only hope that is bound to be disappointed. For weal or woe most immigrants are here for good—and there are worse places. • Fern Leap.
