MARSHAL JOFFRE.
A TOUCHING FAREWELL. .VISIT OF GENERAL WEYGAND. (Kerfeived December 30, 12.15 a.m.) PARIS, Deo. 29. General Weygand bade a touching farewell to-day to Marshal Joffre. The pair have fyeen estranged for many years, cwirig to General Weycnnd's being an enthusiastic partisan of Marshal Foch, a fact which Marshal Joffre took to heart.
General Wevgand felt that ho could not let his old chief die without attempting I. reconciliation, so he accompanied the former. President, M. Millerand, to General Joffre's hospital. Ho found the Marshal unable to speak. " Whether ho recognised me or not I ilo not know," said General Weygand.
SYMPATHY OF THE KING. / INSTRUCTION TO AMBASSADOR. (Received December 29, 6.5 p.m.) Britiali Wireless. RUGBY, Dec. 28. Lord Tyrell, British Ambassador in Paris, has been asked by King George to follow tho progress of Marshal Joffre, who is lying seriously ill, and to express tho King's deep regret at his illness.
