FIVE PEOPLE INJURED. WOMAN'S CONDITION CRITICAL. CAR'S THREE SOMERSAULTS. [hy telegraph.—own correspondent.] WELLINGTON, : Sunday. Two women were seriously injured and a man and two children hurt when a motor-car in which they were riding capsized near Norsewood,' Dannevirke County, to-day. The injured people were taken to the Dannevirke Hospital. Miss Callaghan, aged 21, of Napier, received serious injuries to the spine and her condition is critical. Mrs. A. B. Werner, of Wellington, suffered severe injuries to the head. Mr. Werner, who is an employee of the Wellington Harbour Board, received severe bruises, while the two children, Dora and Allpn Werner, escaped with minor injuries. It is slated by an eye-witness that the car which was travelling from Napier to Wellington, skidded on some loose metal and somersaulted three tunes. DEATH FOLLOWS INJURY. COLLISION AT ROTORUA. Hospital of Mr. Frederick Williscroft, engincdrivcr, of Ok'ata, who was injured on Friday when tho motor-car in which he was riding collided with a motoj--bus in Fenton Street.

An inquest was opened to-day, at which evidence of identification was given by Mr. Francis Williscroft, brother of deceased. The hearing was then adjourned, Mr. Francis Williscroft and his wife, who were both injured in the accident, are progressing favourably. MOTOR-CYCLISTS' DEATH. COLLISION WITH VAN. The death occurred in the Waikato Hos pital to-day of Mr. Renzy Barry, who was seriously injured in a collision between his motor-cycle and a motor-car at Matamata on Friday evening. Mr. Barry, who was 23 years of age, was employed as a farm labourer by Mr. E. C. Litchlie'd, of Tirau. CAPSIZE OVER BANK. TWO MAORIS INJURED. [BY TELEGRAPH.-—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TOWAI, Sunday. A motor-car, containing four Maoris and driven by Mr. Thomas Shcllford, of Waininte North, ran off the road and capsized over a bank yesterday morning. One of the occupants, Mr. Fred Hiil, of Whakapara, received a fracture of the skull. His condition is serious. Another Maori named Brown, of Wniomo, had several ribs broken. The injured men were taken to the Kawakawa Hospital. The car was wrecked. CYCLE AND CAR COLLIDE. YOUNG MAN INJURED. As the result of a collision with a motor-car in Great North Road, Grey Lynn, yesterday afternoon, a motorcyclist, Phillip Addison, aged 21, of Dignan Road, Point Chevalier,. received injuries to the head and several fractured ribs. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital, his condition being not serious. MISHAP NEAR WELLINGTON. CYCLIST TAKEN TO HOSPITAL. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Sunday. As (lie result of a collision some miles on the Wellington side of the Packakariki Hill, between a motor-cycle which he was riding and a "baby" motor-car, Mr. P. H. Starrctt, optical mechanic, of Johnsonville, was admitted to the Wellington Hospital late this aftefnoon suffering from concussion and shock, injuries to his right leg and internal injuries. Stafford was involved in a collision with a motor-car on Woodham Road this morning. Mr. Stafford was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital with severe head injuries. Ilis cortdition is serious. A motor-cyclist, Mr. Ernest Sunkell, aged 21, was travelling from Edgecumbe to Opotiki yesterday, when his machine collided with a motor-car at the corner of Bridge and St. John Streets, lie received a severe gash on one arm and cuts and bruises on the face and was taken to hospital. His machine was badly damaged. . , While cycling to Opotiki from Gishorne on Christmas Day, the veteran racing motor-cyclist Steve Whitehead, who intended to compete at the motor-cycle races, came into collision with a service car. He received extensive leg injuries, and was admitted to the Opotiki Hospital. KNOCKED DOWN BY OAR. AGED WOMAN SUCCUMBS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —rRF.KS ASSOCIATION.] OAMAIIU, Sunday. Mrs. Hannah McAulay, aged 78, who was knocked down in Thames Street, Oamaru, on Christinas Evo, by a motorcar driven by Mr. William Cameron, succumbed to her injuries to-day.
