FLIGHT TO ENGLAND.
MATTHEWS' RETURN TRIP. —J DEPARTURE FROM SYDNEY. (Received December 25. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. Deo. 28. Captain F. J. Matthews set off at 11 a.m. yesterday on a return flight to England. Only a small knot of people saw Captain Matthews off. His little De Havilland Puss Moth, in which he came from England, had been overhauled and carries a spare propeller and sufficient fuel for 18 hours of flying. It lias practically 2000 miles of cruising range. Captain Matthews will go to Brisbano first. He expects to hop off from Darwin on Thursday on the first sea leg of his journey. HILL REACHES SYDNEY. NO WELCOME BY PUBLIC. SYDNEY. Dec. 27. Lieutenant C. W. Hill, the Australian who crashed on Timor in October, when within sight of accomplishing a record flight from England to Australia, completed the journey when he landed at Mascot on Thursday, unheralded and unsung, with only his wife and a few friends to welcome him. The news of his arrival was unknown to the public.
