NEW ZEALAND TIMBER.
USE IN FURNITURE. CUP FOR COMPETITION.. la order to stirnulato tho use of New Zealand timber in furnituro making and to show the public how such woods can be used in home and office, the Dominion Federated Sawmillers' Association has offered a silver cup at the Auckland Winter Show for competition among furniture manufacturing Grms. The offer of the cup was received by the Auckland Manufacturers' Association at its meeting yesterday. The cup is to be held annually, according to tho conditions formulated by the Sawmillers' Association, a gold medal being presented to the winning firm each year, and the cup becoming tho property of any manufacturer winning it three years in succession. Six items of furniture are to bo entered for the competition and exhibited, being entirely constructed of New Zealand wood. AH other materials, such as leather and glue, are to bo of Dominion origin as far as possible, while a further provision is that tho articles arc to bo manufactured by NewZealand artisans.
