BRIDGE EVENING.
hi aid of the Howard League for I'cna] Reform, a bridge evening, arranged by Mrs. M. Dewing, was bold in the Delnionico Cafe, Queen Street, lent for the occasion by Alius Quaylc. The president of tliw league, Air. N. AT. Richmond, gave a short talk upon tho iiiius and objects for which Iho organisat ion stood and stressed particularly the need for a well-in-formed public opinion to support the efforts of the league and of the Prisons Department, to organise better aftercare for discharged prisoners, as well as higher education in tho prisons and other needed reforms.
