Manson against his suspension for ono month bv tho Whangarei Racing Club on Novembor 8 was heard by the Auckland District Committee yesterday. Manson rode Tetrarchato. who ran third in the Kensington Hack Handicap, and the suspension was imposed for crossing. The committee upheld tho finding of the Whangarei stewards as <0 an error of iudement having been committed by Mangon. but as it was of opinion that tho offence was not at all wilful, it decided to reduce the term of suspension to expire on November 28. Manson'a deposit of .£5 was returned to him. The reduction in tho' term of stisoention means that Manson will be able to ride at tho Takapuna Meeting on November 20 and December 1. TRIALS AT AWAPUNI. Voitre) broke 1.8 in running five furlongs. Ho ran his first and second furlongs in evens, but slowed up at tho finish. Coon Song should race well at Levin. Evening Hero jumped away smartly to lead Braggart throughout a six-furlonga gallop in 1.22. Llandudno and Acredity were practically on terms after running the last fivo of six furlongs in 1.9 4-5. Trojan Melody (R. Reed) was going well within himself after covering fivo furlongs with Wallaruh in 1.7 1-5. Hunting Boy and He Whanga were travelling well within themselves at the eloso of fivo furlongs, running the last halfmile in 555. Acco and Royal Flyer were also going comfortably at the end of fivo furlongs in 1.8. Useful Mile Gallops. Robbie's Mistake (J. McDowell) and Lady Alophen (K. Otairi is duo to feturn to hurdling at Feilding. In preparation ho was sent over a couple of rounds of the battens, A. McDonald riding him. He maintained a fast clip throughout and was jumping cloauly at tho close. TE AWHINA'S BREAKDOWN. END OF RACING CAREER. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. To Awhina's breakdown, in tho Members' Handicap at lticcarton oil Saturday has turned out to bo of such a serious nature that she has been retired to tho stud. Te Awhina has been subject to tendon trouble throughout her career, and thi3 has accounted for tho limited amount of racing to which sha has been subjected. Prior to tho recent meeting Te Awhina was in splendid order, and her futuro prospects bore a hopeful outlook. WAIKATO CLUB'S MEETING. ADVERSE EFFECT OF WEATHER. Unfavourable weather 011 tho first day when very unpleasant conditions developed after tho second raco adversely affected tho Waikato Racing Club's Spring Mectr ing. The courso became thoroughly soaked with tho rain, and not only did this allcct tho racing and tho speculation, • but also it caused the fields to fall away on tho second day, when tho prospect of again racing Jn a soft track did not appeal to many owners and trainers. There was a decrease of over i!K!,000 in the tolalisator receipts for tho meeting ancf tho drop is a serious ono for tho cltlb, which has not had the success which its enterprise in laying down a first-class track at Te Rapa has merited. Unless tho club is remarkably successful with its autumn meeting thero will have to bo a considerable reduction in stakes next season and this is a slop the committee will be very reluctant to take. The present stakes are not at a particularly high level, and any reduction may have the effect of weakening the class of borso for competition at futuro meetings. It is a pity thnt tho club has not been more fortunate with its meetings, because success would havo enabled better appointments to have been furnished for racegoers and tlii3 would undoubtedly havo helped to populariso tho meetings. Tho present limited stand accommodation is insufficient especially in wet weather, but this cannot bo altered until such timo as finance pormits. WINDSHIELD CHANGES HANDS. RICHORE TAKES HER PLACE. Mr. J. R. Corrigan, of Hawera, yesterday effected a deal with Messrs. McKendrick Brothers when he took over Windshield in exchange for Richore. Richoro is a speedy pacer who so far has not always given of his best on tho racing track. He can sprint and stay, and may soon score in his new colours. Windshield is a promising novice who has shown good form both on tho track and in races up to 10 furlongs. The sister to Free Advice should do well on a country circuit.
