CONVERSION OF CARS.

TAKEN FROM GARAGES.

TWO YOUNG MEN CHARGED

A series of offences committed at Hawera in September were admitted in the Police Court yesterday by Charles Bennett, aged 24, bushman, and Leslie Dickson, aged 2A, labourer. The accused were charged with unlawfully converting to their own use a. motor-car valued at £350, the property of Bruce Langdin Joll, and another car valued at £SOO, belonging to William Arthur O'Callaghan, and also with stealing sundry articles of a total value of £6 10s 6d.

Detective-Sergeant Kelly said both accused were beforo tho Court recently for a number of offences, Bennett being sentenced to three years' imprisonment with hard labour and Dickson to IS months' imprisonment. Regarding tho conversion of the cars, both vehicles were removed from private garages at night. In entering convictions tho magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, said he would take into consideration the fact that accused were serving long sentences, and ho would therefore not impose further penalties.
