GOOD TROUT FISHING.
TONGARIRO RIVER SPORT. MANY SUCCESSFUL ANGLERS. [BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TURANGI, Monday. The Tongariro River continues to yield good baskets of rainbow trout, but the unfavourable weather at the week-end no doubt accounted for the scarcity of rods in evidenco on the river. Mr. B. TJ. Barlow, of Morrinsville, took 12 fish from the Major Jones' Pool last Friday, bringing his total to 64 since November 1. The largest fish was a beautiful rainbow of 91b.,,'caught below the Birch Pool. Messrs. W. Dimniock and K. Thorbun, of Palmerston, took four fish from the Dreadnaught Pool, eight from Waddle's Pool, ten from Downs' Pool, and 12 from the lake. They also enjoyed good sport in the other river pools. The weather now appears to be improving, and should the fishing remain as at present next week-end should see an influx of visitors.
