IDLE AND DISORDERLY. BEGGAR SENT TO PRISON. " He came out of gaol on Saturday after doing six months for being a rogue and a vagabond." said Chief-Detective Hammond, when Alexander Mollis, aged 67, labourer, appeared in the Police Court yesterday charged with being idlo and disorderly. Arcording to the chief detective the accused was arrested in Victoria Street while begging money from passersby. He had no homo and no means of livelihood. Tho magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, imposed sentenco of three months' imprisonment. Described as a painter, Benjamin Thompson, aged 37, was fined £5, in default a month's imprisonment, on a charge of failing to comply with (ho terms of his prohibition order. On a second charge of being disorderly while drunk a conviction was entered without penally. Sub-Inspector Shanahan said the accused had a list of 36 previous convictions. and had broken his order six times. 1 On (lie application of the polico Reginald John Twomey, aged ]R, was remanded to appear at Taumarunui to-day on a chargo of stealing £ls from tho dwelling of John Fleming, Matapuna Bridge, Taumarunui, on September 17.
