CAPSIZED IN GULF.

A SMALL BOAT FOUND.

SAILS OF THE CRAFT SET

NO TRACE OF OCCUPANTS

A capsized 14ft/, sailing-boat, with all sail set, was found floating in the Hauraki Gulf, two and a-linlf miles from shore, about three o'clock yesterday afternoon by the crew of the scow, Seagull. From the fact that the sails were set it is feared that the boat was occupied when it upset. Up to a lato hour last evening, however, no one bad been reported missing.

ilic Seagull was coming to Auckland and when off Castor Bay Point, on the north side of Milford, the crew picked up a rudder, tiller? oar and grating. Shortly afterwards the boat was observed floating bottom upwards and with only the centre-board showing above water. The derelict was brought to Auckland by the Seagull, and Captain Lang, the master of the scow, reported the matter to the wharf police. The boat is painted white, but there is no name on it. It was empty when found. A boisterous south-west wind was blowing yesterday and the weather was squally. Captain Lang informed the police that he experienced a very heavy squall about an hour before be sighted the capsized craft.
