ESCAPE FROM PRISON.

YOUTH STEALS RACEHORSE. EVASION OF RECAPTURE. SYDNEY, August 29. George Thompson, aged 20, who escaped from Albury gaol, led detectives a thrilling chase early yesterday. The youth stole a racehorse from a stable at Holbrook. Tie was intercepted by a detective 18 miles away. The officer tried to grasp the horse's bridle, but Thompson flung some cayenne pepper in his eyes, leaped from the saddle and disappeared. Thompson had escaped from fhe gaol by pulling some bricks out of the cell. He lowered himself down the outside of the prison wall with the aid of blankets.
