EARL OF DERBY'S ACTION.

Tlic Karl of Derby, one of Britain's foremost, owners and breeders of racehorses, according to the Daily Telegraph, is about to make a considerable reduction in his lacing establishment. Ho has decided to dispense with the services of his trainer, .Mr. F. Butters, and to sell most of his yearlings and a number of the mares and horses in his Stanley House stables. This step is being taken by Lord Derby owing to the growing pressure, of taxation. Li a recent public speech he remarked: "I find that the time is coming, if it has not already come, when I may have to consider leaving the home where my ancestors lived for so many years."
It is computed that Lord Derby's horses have won £350.000 in the past 10 years.
