Inquiry at tho railway head office shows that tho new system of working short time in tho Auckland goods sheds has been general in the goods sheds throughout New Zealand, A similar notico operated in Wellington about three weeks ago, and it has been in force in Dunedin and Invercargill for some time. . There is no guaranteed wage, the "emergency casuals" boing called upon as required, just as in the caso of shipping labour. It is said that in the Wellington sheds, where goods traffic has held up well, the men are rather belter off under the new arrangements. -
