HOSTILE AFRIDIS.

MENACE TO PESHAWAR. ANXIETY OF INHABITANTS. DELHI, August 10. Tho inhabitants of Peshawar are spending anxious days owing to the menace of raiding Afridis, which is growing over nearer. Devout Moslems are praying for tho success of the British and Indian troops. Tho main body of tho Afridis is estimated at 10,000 men.' They aro encamped in the Bara Valley, 12 miles from tho city. About 70 aeroplanes were employed .in operations against them, the airmen dropping 6000 bombs. However, it is believed that tho casualties among the Afridis were small. Tho main attack on Peshawar has not yet materialised.
