SKELETON DEFENCE FORCE.
SCHEME FOR MAINTENANCE. APPROVAL OF MINISTER. [I)Y TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A conference was held (his morning between the Minister of Defence, the lion. J. G. Cobbe, and representative territorial officers, to consider the recom mendations made by the General Officer Commanding for (he maintenance in New Zealand of a skeleton defence forco in place of the present system. Tho Minister said afterwards tha'x tho proposals submitted were thoroughly considered, and that tho officers had assured him of their co-operation in carrying out tho scheme drawn up.
