PHILISTINES CLUB.
DANCING AND ITEMS.
An atmosphere of pait-1 v prevailed at llio Amateur Operatic llall on Saturday when tlio Philistines Club lield a very successful evening. An exceptionally largo number of members and friends, among whom wero members of the English and New Zealand football teams, were present. Mr. 1!. A. Singer was in the chair and during tho evening an excellent programme was presented which included tho following items:—A song by Mrs. Wallace Good; a sketch entitled "Mock Monday" by Miss Audrey Perry and Mr. Jack Gordon; original recitations by Mrs. Victor Macky; song by Mr. Frank .Sutherland; humour by JNliss Linda Murphy; a violin solo by Mr. Ronald Muston, and a playette, "The Great Moment," by the Philistine Players. Accompaniments were played by Mrs. Charles Prime, Mrs. Bird and Miss Beryl Muston. Supper was served, after which a. most enjoyable evening was brought to a close with dancing, tho music being supplied by tho Amateur Syncopalors. Among those present were:—Mrs. 1!. A. Singer.
