Ruin again interfered with the county cricket. The following are fho results:— Derby v. Surrey.—Derby: First innings, 162 (Shepherd five for 42); second innings, four for 7-05, declared (Smith 107, Townsend 102 not out). Surrey: First innings, 158 (Mitchell five for 40); second innings, 110 (Slater fivo for 46). Derby won by 199 runs.
Somerset v. Kent.—Somerset: First innings, 147 (Freeman six for 80). Kent: First innings, nine for 207 (Hardingo 76, White seven for 81). Kent won on the first innings.
Sussex v. Nottingham.—Sussex: First innings, 325 (Bowley C£, second innings, eight for 220. Nottingham : First innings, 383 (George Gunn 96, Pnyton 119 not out). Nottingham won on the first innings. Lancashire v. Essex. —Lancashire: First innings, eight for 261, declared; second innings, one for 68, declared. Essex: First innings, 139 (Hopwnod five for 18); second innings, nono for 68. Lancashire won on the first innings. Yorkshire v. Northants.—No play, match drawn.
Middlesex v. Warwick. —Middlesex : First innings, 338 (llaig 73, Ilulmo 117 not out. Paine five for 98). Warwick: First, innings, 179; follow on, two for 37. Middlesex won on the first innings. Worcester v. Hampshire.—Worcester: First innings, nine for 483, declared (Nichnl 262 not out); second innings, one for 114. Hampshire: First innings, 312. Worcester won on the first innings.
Glamorgan v. Leicester. —Glamorgan First innings, 137. Leicester: First in nings, six for 137. The match was drawn

Ted Phelps had only two and a-half lengths to spare in winning the ancient Doggotf's Coat sculling race for apprentice watermen from London Bridge to Chelsea. A. Simmonds, aged 20, was five seconds behind at the finish.
