GOLDEN WEDDING.
RESIDENTS OF PAPATOETOE.
The golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick A. Ford, of Papatoetoe, was celebrated at the week end by a family gathering at their home. Owing to the illness of Mr. Ford the function was of a quiet nature. Mr. and Mis. Ford were the recipients of many congratulatory telegrams and messages from a wide circle of friends.
Mr. Ford, who has had a varied and interesting career, arrived in New Zealand from London in 1862 by the Quee' 1 of the North with his mother and settled in Onehunga when that township was the commissariat headquarters of 'he Imperial troops during the Waikato War, Two years later Mrs. Ford and hei removed to Auckland. After engaging ' n his business as a draper at various places in the North Island, Mr. Ford returned to Auckland in 1907 to start business i n Karangahapo Road and remained th® r ® until foui years ago, when he retired ant settled in Papatoetoe.
