BAN ON FIREWORKS.
REMOVAL FOR ONE YEAR*
The restrictions on the sale of fireworks, which were imposed by the Got* ernment in March, have been lifted for one year, according to advice received in Auckland yesterday. Under the restrictions it is necessary to obtain a permit from the police before even a packet of crackers can be purchased.
The Government's decision to impose the restrictions came as a surprise and many traders wore caught with large stocks of fireworks. Representations which have been made to the Government over a long period that opportunities shonM be given traders to cjuit their stocks before the ban was enforced have been successful.
