WELLINGTON TO HAMILTON

250 MILES IN UNDER 2 HOURS

MOTH MACHINE'S PERFORMANCE

A flying record for New Zealand was achieved by Captain M. C. McGregor to-day, when he flew from Wellington fo Hamilton, an air-line of 250 miles, in Ih 58m. in a Gipsy Moth aeroplane. Captain McGregor left the Rongotai aerodrome at 2 p.m. in the Cadbury-Fry-Hudson company's machine, accompanied bv Mr. Buckeridge, of Dunedin. A southerly gale was blowing at 50 miles an hour at the time. Captain McGregor followed the Wanganui River and the Main Trunk line and arrived at tho Rukuhia aerodrome, Hamilton, at 3.58 p.m. At times the speed of the machine touched 150 miles an hour, and the average was 125 miles an hour.
