LORNA DOONE.

PAGEANT OF THE ROMANCE. A pageant symbolising the romantic story <>f " Lorn a Doom;" lias been organised at Slinehead, Somerset, and performed this month. It deals principally with the lovo story of Girt Jan Kidfl, tho sturdy Exmoor yeoman, and pretty black-haired Lorna Doone, the child who was brought up among the outlaw and robber Doones who made Exmoor their homo. Several scenes of Exmoor life and customs, which have not greatly changed since the days of Jan Ridd, may also be presented. A thrilling tableau is that of Lorna'3 wedding, which Carver Doone interrupts by shooting her. There are quite 60 players, mostly Exmoor villagers, and the pageant is 'being performed on the beautiful old green at Sel worthy.
