■" OLD BILL " RECOVERS.
" Old Bill, M.P.," is recovering from an illness which onco threatened to end his career. The man who created the part of Old Bill, M.P.," in Bruce Bairnsfather's war comedy of that name is Johnny Dan vers, now aged 70. lie was waiting for the brokers in his meagro homo at Deptford when tliero camo a well known voico from the passage. " Why, bless my soul, wc can't have our dear old Johnny like this. It was Georgo Graves, and through him Johnny now lives happily with his devoted wife in Brixton.
Mr. Graves organised a fund to which ho himself, with Messrs Branshy Williams and C. B. Cochran, became chief donors, later assisted by the Varioty Artist's Fund.
Though lor tho time being tho old actor is crippled and in constant pain, ho hopes to mako a " come-back " in one of next winter's pantomimes.
