EMPTY HOUSE BURNED.
BUILDING AT NEW PLYMOUTH [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Thursday. An unoccupied house in Doone Street was destroyed by fire early this morning. The was called at two o'clock by telephone, but when it reached the house tho firo, helped by a breeze, had such a strong hold that l'ttle could bo done to stop it. Only the shell of tho house is standing. The owner is Mr. Ij. Doighton, of Mangorei Road. The house, which contained five rooms, had not been occupied for tho last three months. It was insured for £6OO in the Phoenix Office.
