Officials of tho French Ministry of Commerce admit that they are anxiously watching the Empire free trade campaign in Britain, i'caring it will menace the economic security ot Europe. France's trade with Canada already is suffering owing to Canada's new preferences for British goods. l)i-. Grerner, a inemher of the German Reichstag, expresses the opinion that if Britain changed the basis of international trade, which has existed for a century, it would ultimately he to the disadvantage of the whole Empire. He asks what will become of the Dominions' separate trade agreements with Germany. A closed British Empire, says Dr. Grerner, is bound to force Europe and America to seek elsewhere tor foods tufts and raw materials now obtained irom the Dominions.
