Torrential downpours of rain covered the wind-screens of the cars, making the driving conditions most diflicult and resulting in many hair-raising skids. One car, going at a terrific speed, skidded so severely that it turned round four times. Then, while tho onlookers breathlessly awaited a disaster, the car continued on in the race to the. half-way mark. There was a duel between Carraceiola (Germany), driving a Mercedei car, and Captain P.irkin, in a Bentlcy. Eventually the German won the trophy, with a n average speed ot 83.<33 miles an houi. Campari (Italy), driving an Alfa-J'omoo, was second. Earl Howe, in a Mercedes, was third and Birkin fourth.
.1 lie Irish International Grand I fix races attracted a total of 30 cutiits. Last year an Alfa-Romeo car was victorious on both days. Ihe foreign competition this year was even stronger, for, in addition to a small licet of AlfaRomeos, there were teams of O.M. and Mercedes-Benz cars. Britain, however, was equally strongly icpresented with two Kent ley teams and teams of 'l albpl., fiiley, Lea Francis, Astoii-Martin and Austin cars.
