ECONOMY IN SYDNEY.
CITY EMPLOYEES DISMISSED. NEARLY 800 MEN CONCERNED. SYDNEY. July 17. About 590 men who were engaged in cable-laying have been dismissed from the city electricity works, which are controlled by tho Sydney City Council, and 200 clerical workers in the tramway department have received notice of dismissal. Large savings are to be effected in tho tramway service, arid a cheaper service is proposed.
