TROTTING.

WAIKATO CLUB FIXTURE. APPLICATION FOR MAY 16. DIFFICULTY WITH OTHER DATES. ' | [ny TELEGRAPH. —OWN correspondent.] HAMILTON, Thursday. Considerable difficulty is being experienced by the Waikato Trotting Club in selecting a date for its autumn meeting which does not clnsh with that of some other club Tho original date selected, March 28, was found to coincide with the Thames meeting, and application was made for May 9. Reporting at a meeting of tho club today, Mr. Campbell Johnstone said he had been unable to put the dale selected, May 9, before the Dates Committee, as ho had not received notification of tho committee's meeting. The committee had later recommended February 14. however, but it was found that the Rotorua liacing Club hail been allotted the same date. The only thing the club could do now was to race in opposition to Rotorua or to select anoilier (bite. The president. Mr. FI. W. Burch. suggested May IG as a suitable date, as it would form a circuit with the To Aroha and Cambridge Clubs and would thus probably attract a larger attendance. He thought the club would havo to cater more for second-grade horses, bb clubs which had longer limits were leaving tho Waikato Club behind. It was decided to apply for May 10 as tho date for the autumn meeting. It was decided to allot £1450 for stakes in tho forthcoming Spring Meeting, the same amount as paid out at the April meeting.
