LOSS TO CANTERBURY.
NOTED RESIDENT'S DEATH. MR. WILLIAM REECE, [BY TELEGftAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] CHRISTCHURCH,, Thursday. The death is announced of Mr. William licece, who has been a Government representative on the board of directors of the Bank of New Zealand for the past 16 years. He was 73 years of age. Mr. Recce was'chairman of the Christchurch Gas Company for a long period and an es-Mavor of the city. Mr. Reece was prominently associated with the public life of Christchurch for many years. He was formerly chairman of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce and was Mayor of Christchurch in the city's jubilee year, 1900. He was president of the South African War Fund in the same year and at various times was chairman of the Christchurch Employers' Association, the Agricultural and Pastoral Association and the Tramways Board. Mr. Reece was a commissioner of th* New Zealand Exhibition in 1906 and 1907 and was for two years a member of t"he Prisons Board.
