CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.
Sir,- I have read with interest the letters regarding the above, none of which seem to give a satisfactory reason for doing away with our present law on tho subject. On almost every occasion where a death sentence is pronounced the aama sort of reasons are given, for ancj against. Where Christianity is used as a icason the only question should be, "What saith the Scripture?" Very, veiv earlv in the history of the present world God said • "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the imaee of God created He man." If that means anything it. means that God considered His own image so sacred that the person who destroyed it forfeited his own life. This law was brought in ages before the Mosaic law, and repeated ovei and over again to His people Israel. Capital punishment for the murderer is God's immutable and just law, no matter how men may approve of other men's opinions, and it is not repealed in anv part of Scripture. (;. t. 'Dunne.
