NEW INDIA HOUSE.

KING GEORGE TO OPEN. BROADCAST OF SPEECH. British Wireless. RUGBY, Juno 29. The King will open India House, the new offices of tho High Commissioner for India, on July 8.""' It has been decided that the speech His Majesty will deliver, :in addition to being broadcast in Britain, will bo relayed from the experimental transmission station at Chelmsford, in the hope that it will bo successfully picked up in India.

The arrangements have not yet been completed. A broadcast of a speech by Sir John Simon, a fortnight ago, from tho British Broadcasting Corporation's station was eminently successful. It was heard, for instance, with perfect distinctness in Simla. But Sir John was broadcasting at 8.30 p.m., which corresponds to about 2 a.m. in India, and conditions at that time are entirely different from tho atmospherics of mid-day in London in their relation to India.

The King's speech will be at mid-day. If its transmission is successful the experiment will not only be of considerable historic interest, but may reasonably be expected to help in a practical way toward giving a clearer perception in India of the true motives of Britain's policy.
