CAR RUNS OVER BANK.
DEATH OF ELDERLY WOMAN*
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWS CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Monday. Au elderly yoman, Mrs. Lydia Flyger, was killed in a motor accident at Omana, near Eltham, on Saturday evening. Mr. J. Richavds, a sheepfarnier, of Moeroa, was returning from Ashhurst, ac-
companied by liis wife and Mrs. FJyger. When they were within 1£ niiies of their homo on the Tnkau-Moeroa Road, the car went over a bank at a sharp bend. It rolled down the hill for 40 or 50ft., until it was caught by some lre6s, which saved a further drop of 200 ft. or sooft;
Mr. and Mrs. Richards were dazed, but not seriously injured. Mrs. Flyger, who
was in the back seat, was found in.a state of collapse. After asking them to lift some luggage off her, she became unconscious and died almost immediately. At an inquest concerning the death held beforo the district coroner, Mr. W. L. Kennedy, Dr. Saunders said ho reached tho scene of the accident about midnight and found Mrs. Flyger still in the car. She was dead. With the assistance of ropes lie pulled her up to the road, where he examined her more closely, but found
no external injuries. lie attributed her death to heart failure, brought about by shock. It was stated | that Mrs. Flyger had been under medical treatment in Wellington. Mr. Kennedy gave a verdict that Sirs. Flyger died of heart failure following shock, received when a motor-car went over a bank, no blame being attachable to the driver.
