KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR.
GRAVE INJURIES RECEIVED.
ACCIDENT AT HOROTIU.

A serious accident occurred oil tho Great South Road at Horotiu this evening, when a man, whoso name is believed to be Arthur Richardson, aged about 30 years, was knocked down by a motor-car and was gravely injured. The man had left a motor-cycle on the side of the road and was crossing the road to procure some benzine when a passing motor-car collided with him. Ho was rendered unconscious and was found to be suffering from concussion and abrasions to tho face.
During a brief period of consciousness ho mentioned the name Arthur Richardson. Tho man was removed, to the Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.
The motor-car which struck him did not stop. PEDESTRIAN'S ARM BROKEN. MISHAP IX THE CITY. A fracture of the right arm was received by Mr. Donald Stoner, aged about 30, who resides at the Y.M.C.A., as the result of being knocked down by a motorcar at the intersection of Wellesley and Queen Streets about four o'clock yesterday afternoon. Ho was attended by the St. Joljn Ambulance and taken to the Auckland Hospital, where he was treated in the casualty ward.
