THE SECOND COURT.

STRIKING DRESS OF THE QUEEN. Tho second Conrt of tho season held at Buckingham Palaco recontly, almost outbid its predecessor in dazzling pagoantry, writos a correspondent. One of tho most splendid things seen in this sotting of magnificence was the Queen's train. It was executed in poach and silver English-woven brocado, with a lily design embroidered in pearls and silver. Tho dress was of silver chiffon lamo, with® an overdress of'palo peach colour chiffon, ombroidered, too, with pearls and 6ilver. Tho Queen's pearl-and-diamond tiara had swinging pearl drops. She wore the Order of the Garter and family orders. Youth was more proportionately represented than it was at the first Court, when so many foreign' presentations were niado. Some of the loveliest girls of Mayfair became lovelier still under tho oxcitoment of going through tho palaco corridors and waiting their turn for proson tation. Ono debutante later confessed that she had one of hor groat thrills when her father's motor-car drovo through the courtyard of the palace. " I had never been to Buckingham Palaco before," she declared, "and. 1 thought tho entrance was simply wonderful in tho twilight, with tho golden lamps blazing through the- doorway and tho coloured uniforms of tho special bodyguard of yeomanry linking up tho corridors. " I had a second tremondons moment when wo heard tho band play ' God Save tho King,' and tho King and Queen came in, the Queen looking wonderful in her peach and silver gown. And, of course, a third ono when it was actually my turn to bow. But that was scion Over. "The men's uniforms-were really more attractive than tho women's dresses. They were so varied and handsome."'
