DEATH OF MR. F. R. COOKE.

[by telegram.—-own correspondent.] CHRISTCHURCII, Friday'.

Tho death has occurred of Mr. Frederick Riley Cooke, aged 64, a member of tho City Council and a prominent Socialist for 30 years. Ho was highly regarded by all parties. no was born in Bradford, England. In accordance with tho views held by Mr. Cooke there will bo no official representative of tho Church at tho funeral, which has been arranged to talco placo on Sunday afternoon. The interment will tako placo without any formal burial sorvico. Several prominent Socialists, including tho Mayor, tho Rev. J. K. Archer, and Mr. E. J. Howard, M.P., will deliver addresses at the graveside, but Mr. Archer will not speak as a representative of tho Church.
