J: Holdswdrth, chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board, and Mr. R. H. Bartley, general manager to the board, will arrive & Wellington to-mor-row in response to an invitation from the Minister of Public Works, tho Hon. ' W. B. Taverner. "I understand tho Auckland Board lias come to" tentative conclusions regarding the steps that should be taken to meet the power situation in Auckland while Arapuni is out of action,' said Mr. Taverner. "I have accordingly invited Mr. Holdsworth and Mr. Bartley to come to Wellington to. discuss the position with me to-morrow." Preliminary steps toward securing additional generating plant for tbe King's f Wharf power station have been taken by the* Auckland Power Board. Prior to his departure for Wellington last night Mr. R. H. Bartley, general manager to tfie board, said that several offers to supply plant had been received from England. A cablegram had been despatched asking for an option over the 15,000 kw. generating set which had been mentioned at the conference on Tuesday and no doubt the option would be granted. Two other firms were each offering two 7SGO kw. units • and in each case the plant could be landed in Auckland within four or five months. By regulating tho load the board would be able to carry on with its existing plant in- the meantime, Mr. Bartley said. It had to be ascertained what the Government was prepared to do to meet the position, but-if the Government did not take adequate measures the board would do so.
