Charges of keeping open his hotel at a time when it should bj law be closed, of exposing liquor for sale, of selling liquor after hours, and of selling liquor to Thomas Dison and H. C. Plammer, were preferred against Alfred Arthur Brook, of the Royal Oak Hotel. Tapu, in the Thames Police Court to-day before Mr. F. W. Piatt-5. S. if. Defendant pleaded guilty to keeping: his premises open and to selling liquor to Thomas Dixon. Sergeant *Oark said a party of men from Thames bad a day's onting. They had been supplied with liquor by defendant. After taking some of the party home in a motor-car two of the men, MoLean and Dysart, had set cut for home. On the way an accident occurred and Dysart was kiiled. Counsel said it was defendant' 3 first offence. Defendant was fined £5 on each of the charces of keeping open his hotel and of selling liquor to Dixon. The magistrate said it was a ffaeranfc breach of the Act. and it was difficult to ascertain the consequences. ILLEGALLY IN HOTEL. CASES AT HAMILTON. [ST TELEGRAPH. —ovm CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Wednesday. A visit was paid to the Hamilton Hotel at 8.43 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, by Sergeant Harley and Constable Brown, and as the result a number of local residents were charged in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court to-dav with being found on licensed premises without lawful excuse after hours. Henry James Greensiade pleaded guilty and wa3 fined £l. Pleaui of not guilty were entered by Sir. E. F. Clayton Greene on behalf of Ishmaei Wright St. Clair, Cyril Thomas Clarkiu and Frederick Bowe Stubbing. The case against St. Clair was dismissed. Clarkin and Stubbing were convicted and fined £l.
