FANCY-DRESS DANCE.
A children's fancy dress ball was held in the Foresters' Hall, Takapuna, on Friday evening, for the children and their friends who took part in the pantomino recently staged in aid of tho Waitemata Women's Progressive Leaguo. Tho programme included a song and danco by Pixio Bestic, and an impersonation of Sir Harry Lauder by Paula Reston. Other dances were arranged for adtilts and these were judged by Mrs. Scales, the prizes being won by Miss B. McKee and Mr. Dunlop, Miss M. Ilali and Mr. 11. Cotterell. The judges for the fancy costumes were Mrs. G Clarke-Walker, Mrs 11. C Levett and Major Cameron. Tho prizes were awarded as follows:—Prettiest girls' costume. Paula Reston, who represented a bride; smartest boy's costume, Harry Cottorell as tho Scarlot Pimpernel; most original girl's costume. Cherry Nesbit as Evo in tho Garden of Eden; most original boy's costumo, S. Bartlcy as "I Am 11 Corker;" most comical girl's 10s tumo, Molly Madden, as a Cockney girl; most comical boy's costume, Max Birrell as a South Sea Islander; least expensive costumo, Joan Swarin as "Flower of tho Family;" children under six years. Rosemary Crowo as Little Red Riding Hood; and F West as a New Zealand All Black. Special prizes wero awarded to Joan James, Pixie Bestic, Nancy Richardson and L. Arrnitage. Tho committee wore; Dr. 11. Wilkic, Mrs Reston, Mrs. 0- Brandon, Mrs. Gordon. Mrs. Davies and Nurso Jones.
