FIFTY YEARS A PRIEST.
DEAN O'DONNELL'S RECORD. CEREMONY AT ASHBURTON. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ASHBURTON. Tuesday. Dean O'Donnell, who has been parish priest of Ashburton for 38 years, to-day celebrated the jubilee of his ordination. He was entertained this evening at a large gathering, when he was presented with an illuminated address and a wallet containing 300 guineas. The speakers included Bishop Brodie and Bishop Whyte. Other presentations made to Dean O'Donnell during the day included a beautiful chalice and a set of vestments from the priests of the diocese. Associated with the jubilee was the laying of the foundation stone of a new church to cost £II,BBO. Bishop Brodie performed the ceremony.
