STUDY OF INDIANS.
RESEARCH BY AUCKLANDER.
To have lived with an American Indian tribe for months has been the experience of Mr. F. M. Keesing, of Auckland, holder of a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship, who lias been engaged upon sociological research work under the Institute of Pacific Relations since 1928. In a letter received in Auckland this week, Mr. Keesing said it was believed that the Indian tribe had some connection with the Maori race and it was in an endeavour to confirm this that ho associ'ated with the Indians. The results pf this work undertaken under Fellowship are not yet available. Mr. Keesing is now engaged upon the direction of a research under the Institute of Pacific Relations into government of Pacific dependencies, which will take two years. He will obtain and co-ordin-ate material pertaining to racial, economic, social, educational and political matters in countries having Pacific dopendencies or mandated territories. Mr. Keesing, accompanied by Mrs. Keesing, who is also a graduate of Auckland University College, will visit Australia, Netheriand East Indies, Philippines, Malaya, New Hebrides and parts of Melanesia in the near future. Mr. Keesing is at present in Honolulu.
