The second round of matches in the Auckland Hockey Association's senior championship will commence at Remuera and Walker Park to-morrow. University, the leading term, is drawn to meet Ivorth Shore, which is always able to extend any team in the competition. Prospects favour Somerville in its match with Wesley, and St. Luke's is expected to prove too strong for the University Whippets. Ladies' and junior grade competitions will be continued. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association was presided over by Miss P. H- Dawson. There was a full attendance of members, including delegates representing Rongitaiki, Rodney, Thames, Waihi, Waikato. Waipa and Whangarei. It was recommended that as this year's New Zealand tourney was to be held in luvercargill. for financial reasons, no team from the association should attend, but that instead the association should encourage local clubs to vifcit. the sub-associations. 'lt was reported that Mr. B. Cooper had accepted the position of selector for the association's junior grade Country Week team, and that Mrs. W. Fuller had accepted the senior grade select-orship. It was decided that the association enter three teams from its business girls' section, one to be drawn from the junior grade and two" from the senior grade. It was decided to offer no objection to King Country rejoining the Auckland Association. King Country has for the past five years operated as nn association directly affiliated to the New Zealand Ladies' Hockey Association. Affiliation was granted to the Kerepeehi Ladies' Hockey Association, new association formed on the .Hnuraki Plains to take the place of the Hauralci Plains Association, now defunct.'. Arrangements ure being made to present life members with their badges at an early date.

AUCKLAND REFEREES.
EXAMINATION IN THEORY. The fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Hockey Referees' Association" was ield in the presence of a large number of members. Several new members were elected subject to complying with the rules.-. The total membership of the association has greatly increased this year and now stands at 43. The New Zealand Referees' Association notified that a New Zealand theory examination would be held in Auckland _ on Wednesday evening. July 2. It was decided to get all members to sit for this examination and Mr. A. Williams was appointed to supervise; The secretary reported having received the three 2in. rings sent for testing to the New Zealand Association. As they were now officially stamped, referees were requested to see that sticks that did not pas* through the 2in. ring were stopped from being used. A letter from the Auckland Hockey Association stated that leather on the bottom of sticks was contrary to the rules. It was decided that the rnle should be enforced. and to deal severely with rouch play and undercutting. It was decided to write to Mr. _C li. Kent, a life member of the association, wishing him a speedy recovery from hiß illTh'e first lecture on the "offside rule" was given by Mr. E. J. Hewitt. Mr. A.
