SUNDAY LECTURES.
Sir,—Wo consider the publication ot the total income of the Rationalist Association from the Majestic Theatro without reference to tho expenditure quite misleading to tho general _ public, and possibly giving riso to criticism not based on tho facts. The total amount received from collections at tho Majestic Theatro for tho year ending May 31, 1930, was £927. Tho total expenditure incurred at the theatro was £BSO, leaving tho profit for tho year's operations £77, or nearly £2 for each opening. There could scarcely be a narrower margin, and on a number of Sundays tho collections wero less than tho expenditure. If it wero not for tho fact that these lectureentertainments wero conducive of much moral and educational benefit to tho community, particularly to those who would otherwise roam tho streets or bo without cultural recreation, tho small margin of surplus would not warrant tho output of time and energy cheerfully contributed by a small band of volunteer workers. G- A. Rawson, Organising Secretary, N.Z. Association for' tho Advancement of Rationalism.
