FAILURE ON PROBATION.
SEAMAN SENT TO PRISON.
"Accused is a useless man on probation," said tha probation officer, Mr \V. J. Campbell, when Guy Carney, aged 25, described as an American seaman, was charged in tho Police Court yesterday with committing a breach of tho terms of bis rolcaso on probation. The original chargo on which he was placed on probation, one of assaulting Albert Percival Walker on July 21, 1929, was also preferred against Carney, lie admitted the first charge
Mr. Campbell said accused was useless on probation and nothing could bo done with him. ITo was continually coming before tho Court and had been sentenced several times before for breaking his probation. When be was sentenced on tho original chargo ho had beon ordered to pay £5, but so far had only paid 10s. Sentence of ono month's imprisonment on tho original charge- was imposed by Mr., F. lv. Hunt, S.M., who convicted and discharged Carney on tho other count.
