(Eeceived June 13. 1-5 SYDNEY, Juno IS. The Sydney Civic Commission having been abolished, polling tooK place to-dav for a new City Council There were 42 candidates for the 15 seats, comprising Reform, which is an anti-Labour Party, several independents and accredited Labour nominees.
The campaign was short and bitter. I'll© Reform cundi cia-t.cs luid stress cn Labour's misdeeds in the past. The election was noteworthy on account of the presence of Mr- J. S. Garden, secretary of tlie Trade and Labour Council, among the Laoour aspirants. The results of the polling are not yet known, but it is understood that the Reform Party is assured of a majority, possibly of ten to Laixrar's five. Also, it is believed that Mr. Garden has been defeated.
