ALL BLACKS SELECTED.

TEAM FOR FIRST TEST.

FOUR AUCKLAND PLAYERS.

BATTY GAINS A PLACE.

MARK NICHOLLS DROPPED.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] OAMARTJ, Wednesday,

Tho following team has been selected to represent New Zealand against tho British Rugby team in the first test match at Dunedin on Saturday:— Fullback. —G. Nepia (East Coast).

Threequarters.—G. Hart (Canterbury), F. W. Lucas (Auckland), D. Ollivor (Wellington). Five-eighths.—A. E. Cooko (Wellington), H. Lilburno (Canterbury).

Halfback.—J. Mill (Wairarapa). Wing-forward.—C. G. Porter, captain (Wellington). Hookers.—A. I. Cottrell (Canterbury), W. R. Irvine (Wairarapa).

Lock.—E. R. C. Steerp (Hawke's Bay). Supports.—l. Finlayson (North Auckland), R. G. McWilliams (Auckland). Btick Row.—W. T. Hazlett (Southland), Wk Batty (Auckland). Reserves.—Forward: J. Horo (Otago). Backs: M. Nicholls (Wellington), L. Johnson (Wellington). Owing to the effects of a recent injury to his knee R. F. Stewart was not considered in the selection.

Eleven of the fifteen men selectel have previously worn the All Black jersey. Nepia, Lucas, Cooke, Mill, Porter and Irvine were members of the 1924 All Blacks who toured the United Kingdom, Franco and Canada. Lucas, Cooke, Lilburne, Finlayson, McWilliams and Hazlett were members of the All Blacks who toured South Africa in 1928. All these players have also been to Australia with different teams. Cottrell went over to Australia with last year's team. This leaves Hart, Olliver, Steere and Batty new to international honours.

The omission of Nicholls is bound to give vise to criticism in certain quarters, but Lilburne and Cooke form a very fine five-eighths line. Stewart's injury is unfortunate, as ho has been playing in great form and his weight and pace would be an asset on Saturday.
