FUNERALS OF VICTIMS.
RESPECT FOR ENGINEDRIVER
CROWD OF 1000 ATTENDS.

Tho funerals of three of the victims of tho Sockbum railway crossing tragedy took placo to day. Tho bodies of Miss Isabella D. Brand, matron of the Templeton Mental Hospital, Mr. Ralph A. M. Smith, drivor of tho motor-car, and Mr. Charles W. Smith, tho onginedriver, were buried at tho Bromloy Cometery, Tho funeral of Miss Brand was private, but was attended by Dr. T. G. Gray, Director-General of Mental Hospitals, Dr. A. C. McKillop, superintendent of the Sunnyside Mental Hospital, and members of tho staffs at Sunnyside and Templeton.
Mr. Ralph Smith's funeral was also attended by Dr. Gray and hospital officers. A crowd of 1000 people attended the funeral of Mr. C. W. Smith. Tho service was conducted by Salvation Army officers. Among those presont were many representatives of the railway service.
WRECKAGE CLEARED AWAY.
ENGINE TAKEN TO WORKSHOPS,
[I)Y TELEGRAPH.—PKESB ASSOCIATION.] CnRISTCIIURCTI. Wednesday. Tho wholo of tho wreckage of the Sock burn crossing smash was cleared away today by repair gangs. The engine was re* placed on tho line and hauled to tho Addington workshops for repairs.
