By a coincidence thoro was landed on tho wharves yesterday, on tho anniversary of tho South Island oartliquake, a Galitzin seismograph, ordered as the outcome of last year's shock, for tho recording of New Zealand tremors.

It will form part of the equipment of the new Kelburn Observatory now under construction.
