A reduction of rates for tho current financial year was decided upon by the new One Tree Hill Borough Council last evening, following tho adoption of the estimates, which provide for an increase of £llsß in revenue.
The rates in the main portion of the borough will be reduced by a halfpenny in the pound, while in addition the sanitary charge will be 5s for each property. The only portion of tho district in which the rates will not be reduced
will bo the area where tiiere is no sewerage system. There the rates will be identical with last year's. Tho proposed rates will produce a total of £24,731, compared with £25,025 last year, equal to an average rate over tiio whole borough of 3.s 1 4-sd, as against 3s 3d last. year.
The consolidated rate will be 2s 5d over the whole borough, there being no change from last year.
