POST AND TELEGRAPH. CONTROLLER APPOINTED. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Tho appointment is announced of Mr. 'Arthur Marshall to tho position of controller of savings banks and accounts, Post and Telegraph Department, rendered vacant bv,tho retirement of Mr. 11. D. Edwards. Mr. Marshall has been in the service since 1897, and with the exception of a period of about two years has been employed in the accountants' branch. He is a qualified accountant by examination and has taken an active part in placing tho department accounting work on a commercial basis. For several years he has also-been associated with the higher financial activities of the department. Mr. Marshall has taken a prominent part in tho social welfare of tho staff and is well known in bowling circles.
